Anthony Gill may only be a college basketball player, but he is actually engaged to be married.
The Virginia senior forward from North Carolina has been with girlfriend Jenna Jamil for over seven years, and the two are set to wed shortly after the NCAA Tournament ends. He actually said back in October that he scheduled their wedding for April 8 so that it wouldn’t conflict with the NCAA Tournament championship game in case Virginia made it that far.
Virginia was a top seed in the dance and is making a run for the Final Four.
According to their wedding website, here is how the engagement between Jamil and Gill went down:
“It all started with a Facebook message back in September of 2008. Two weeks later Anthony asked me to be “his girl”. Crazy right? Who would of (sic) thought that my soul mate would have been a 15 year old boy getting my attention over social media? Well that is exactly what happened. My best friend became the love of my life. On May 24, 2015 we got engaged horseback riding in the Dominican Republic. It could not have been more perfect. The last 7 years, we have grown individually and as a couple through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the reason we are where we are today. He has shown us how to love one another through the way he has loved us. God has written our love story and we are so happy to share that with everyone.”
Many of Gill’s Virginia teammates are set to be in his wedding, including Malcolm Brogdon, Devon Hall, London Perrantes and Darius Thompson.
