Army football player hospitalized after fentanyl overdose
An Army football player was hospitalized after being one of six people who overdosed on fentanyl-laced cocaine during an incident at a Florida vacation home during Spring Break on Thursday, officials said.
Two of the six people involved in the incident were Army cadets, though as of now reports have only confirmed that one of the two cadets are members of the football team.
According to the AP, officials said Friday that two of the individuals were critically ill and on ventilators; two other victims were in stable condition; one was in good condition and one was released.
All six people needed medical attention from the paramedics that arrived on the scene. Two of the people collapsed on Thursday after ingesting cocaine laced with fentanyl, a highly-potent opioid. Two others overdosed after ingesting some fentanyl while administering mouth-to-mouth CPR.
The incident took place at a vacation rental home in the Wilton Manors community of Fort Lauderdale.
