Oklahoma QB Austin Kendall reportedly enters transfer portal

Oklahoma Sooners

In an intriguing twist, Oklahoma quarterback Austin Kendall has reportedly sought a transfer from the school.

According to Eric Bailey of the Tulsa World, Kendall is entering the NCAA transfer portal to look over his options. Kendall has already graduated and would have two years of eligibility remaining. He would also be permitted to play immediately at a new school upon transferring.

The implications are significant for Oklahoma. If Kyler Murray does not return to school, as is likely, the Sooners’ scholarship quarterbacks would be a redshirt freshman and a true freshman in Tanner Mordecai and Spencer Rattler. It’s very hard to envision Oklahoma entering next season, a year in which they’ll be seeking a return to the playoff, with that much inexperience at the quarterback position assuming Kendall follows through on his intent to transfer.

One thing that the Sooners could pursue is a transfer themselves, and one prominent quarterback has already been linked to the school since entering the transfer portal himself.
