Cincinnati running back Michael Warren made a crucial mistake during his team’s Military Bowl matchup against Virginia Tech on Monday, and he was left breathing a huge sigh of relief when the ball bounced perfectly for the Bearcats.
Warren took a direct snap on 2nd-and-goal from the Virginia Tech 1-yard line, and he fumbled while trying to fight his way into the end zone. Several players on both sides didn’t even realize the ball was on the ground, and a Cincy player ended up falling on it for a touchdown.
Virginia Tech forces the goal line fumble… Cincinnati touchdown! OK then! https://t.co/LQp66D5RRJ

The score gave Cincinnati a 14-7 lead in the first half, but it just as easily could have ended up Virginia Tech’s ball with the game still tied. Other than Miami Dolphins running back Kenyan Drake, we can’t think of a player who has been bailed out harder this year on a goal line fumble.
