LSU lost to Florida in Baton Rouge on Saturday 16-10 after being unable to score from inside the 10 in the final minute of the game. The Tigers even had two shots from the 1 — including the final play of the game with three seconds left — but they were stopped. Now we’re learning that LSU’s running back actually ran the wrong way on the final play.
Derrius Guice, who rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, tried to dive into the end zone straight ahead on the final play of the game, but he was stuffed:

After the game, LSU interim head coach Ed Orgeron said Guice went the wrong direction.
Orgeron said "the back went the wrong way" on the fourth and goal – the last play of the game. #LSU

Wow.
Orgeron says Guice went the wrong way on the final play. Unreal.#LSU

You could tell based on the pitch that quarterback Danny Etling was expecting to toss the ball the other way and had to adjust mid-play. A screenshot shows that had Guice gone to the left like he was apparently supposed to, he had a favorable chance of scoring:

The loss will haunt LSU fans. The defeat also will make it harder for Orgeron to claim the job on a permanent basis, as his team has now lost two big games under him, and now he’s thrown one of his players under the bus, which might not look good publicly.
