Oregon WR Darren Carrington to miss title game after failing drug test

Darren Carrington

Oregon wide receiver Darren Carrington did not travel to Texas with his team Friday and will not play in Monday’s national championship game after failing an NCAA drug test, according to a report.

CSN Northwest first reported the news and says Carrington tested positive for weed.

FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman says Oregon appealed the positive drug test. Their appeal was heard and denied.

Carrington’s absence means the Ducks will be without two of their top receivers for the title game; redshirt freshman receiver Devon Allen injured his knee on the opening kickoff of the Rose Bowl last week. Carrington had his best game of the season in the playoff win over Florida State, catching seven passes for 165 yards and two touchdowns.

Carrington had 37 catches for 704 yards and four touchdowns this season. Allen had 41 catches for 684 yards and seven touchdowns.
