TJ Yeldon suffers injury on fumble against LSU (Video)
TJ Yeldon lost a fumble with 1:13 left in Alabama’s game against LSU on Saturday night in Baton Rouge that put his team in a terrible position and left him injured.
LSU downed a punt at the 1 with 1:56 left, and Bama looked content to take the game into overtime tied at 10. They handed off to Yeldon on first down and he gained six, so they gave it to him again. This time, he was tackled and appeared to injure his leg upon being tackled. It looked like he coughed up the football in a moment of weakness because of the pain from the tackle.
The fumble call was upheld. As you can see, Yeldon was losing the ball before his knee hit the ground:
LSU got the ball and kicked a field goal to go up 13-10, but Bama responded with a surgical drive and kicked a field goal to tie it at 13. The Tide went on to win in overtime 20-13.
There is no word yet on the extent of Yeldon’s injury, though Nick Saban called it a “twisted ankle” in his postgame interview.
