Report: ‘Well has been poisoned’ for Lane Kiffin as USF candidate
It doesn’t sound as if Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin will be a candidate for the vacant USF coaching job. It’s not necessarily because of lack of interest, but rather something significantly more personal.
With Willie Taggart leaving the Bulls to take the Oregon job, there was some talk that Kiffin might be a fit to replace him. ESPN reported Wednesday that Kiffin is a candidate for the opening.

One big problem, however, is family ties. USF associate head coach David Reaves is the brother of Kiffin’s wife, Layla, who filed for divorce in March. A source told Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports “that well has been poisoned” for Kiffin at USF.
Kiffin does have a strong endorsement he can tout to any program looking for a coach, but this situation may make things a bit too awkward for this particular school.
