Caitlyn Jenner hashtag was blacked out by Instagram over hateful comments

Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the ESPYs on Wednesday night, and she gave an inspirational speech about a lifelong struggle that most of us can’t relate to. Unfortunately, some people who can’t relate to things react negatively to them.

While Jenner received plenty of praise on social media, there were also thousands of very, very nasty comments throughout the day before she received the award. TMZ reports that there were so many hateful remarks on Instagram that the company actually blacked out the hashtag #CaitlynJenner for a stretch of time.

We noticed late Wednesday morning if you hashtagged Caitlyn Jenner “most recent” would not come up. That means there was no way to see photos or texts using the hashtag. The only photos you could see were from a few top posts … all very nice and positive.

Here’s what we found out. Instagram itself blocked its users ability to view ‘most recent’ photos and texts, because there had been a flurry of really awful comments and uploads.

It’s unfortunate that it had to come to that, but I’m sure Jenner expected it. In addition to negative feedback, there have been reports that Jenner negotiated the ESPY award in exchange for PR plugs. As we mentioned earlier, there’s reason to believe those reports are inaccurate.
