No Philadelphia Eagles player has been more visibly upset during the team’s recent poor stretch of play than AJ Brown, but the star wide receiver is making a concerted effort to look toward the future.

Brown organized a players-only meeting during the week leading up to the Eagles’ Week 18 game against the New York Giants, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.

“Of all people, AJ Brown was the voice of reason this week,” Glazer said. “He’s been very emotional on the sidelines, but he called a players-only meeting this week. One, he said, ‘Look, I’m sorry to you guys that you’ve had to answer for me and my emotions. I haven’t talked to the media. That won’t happen again.’ But, two, (he said) we’ve really got to start bonding together. Whatever the coaches call for us, we have to start flying through. That’s me, that’s you, that’s everybody else. We’ve got to start believing in our coaches and really go with the plan that they are giving us, wholeheartedly.”

Following Philadelphia’s 35-31 loss to the Arizona Cardinals last week, Brown refused to speak with the media. The only thing he said was that there was “nothing to talk about” and that his frustration was “nothing towards y’all.” Some took that to mean Brown was upset with the Eagles’ coaching staff or the game plan against Arizona.

Then, there was a report during the week where an anonymous Eagles player criticized Brown over his body language.

Brown eventually spoke with the media and tried to set the record straight. He probably wanted to do the same behind closed doors, which is why he called a players-only meeting.
