Bill Cowher has harsh criticism of Dolphins after embarrassing loss

NFL legend Bill Cowher had some harsh criticism for the Miami Dolphins following the team’s embarrassing loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

The Dolphins were dominated from start to finish in their 31-6 Week 7 loss to the Browns at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio. Miami scored all of their points in the first half and was unable to overcome four turnovers from Tua Tagovailoa.

Cowher spoke about Miami’s poor performance during the CBS postgame show. The former Super Bowl champion made some comments that do not reflect well on Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel.

“The second half of that game, they looked almost disinterested. They looked deflated. They looked almost (like) there was nothing left in the tank, almost disengaged,” Cowher said. “I’m just talking the way I saw it. Tua turned the ball over four times. The defense gave up some big plays.

“It will be interesting to see what happens down there. There’s been a lot of talk about the lack of structure that they have inside the building. The bottom line, again, we don’t know what’s going on inside the building because we’re not there. But we see the product that’s on the field, and right now there’s some issues in that.”

Cowher, who spent 15 seasons as the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, seemed to be talking about McDaniel’s job status without coming out and saying it. The Dolphins fell to 1-6 with the loss, and there is a growing belief that McDaniel is on the verge of being fired.

Tagovailoa created some drama for the Dolphins last week when he suggested his teammates have not been fulfilling their responsibilities behind the scenes. A recent report also claimed there were players who were fined for being late to meetings and practices last season.

The way that the Dolphins have lost games is perhaps more troubling than the losses themselves. At this point, it would be a surprise if McDaniel survives the season.
