Report: Cowboys do not see Robert Griffin III as a fit
The Dallas Cowboys are one of the teams that have been linked to Robert Griffin III since the conclusion of the 2015 season, but that does not mean they are actually interested in signing him.
With Griffin almost certain to be dumped by the Washington Redskins in the near future, some have speculated that Jerry Jones would love to make a splash by signing RG3 to back up Tony Romo. ESPN’s Ed Werder said Monday that it probably isn’t going to happen.
“Not a lot of people in Dallas think he’s a great fit in Jason Garrett’s offense, and I’m told that Scott Linehan, the offensive coordinator, is really not a fan of RGIII’s and doesn’t think he would excel with what the Cowboys would ask him to do,” Werder said on NFL Live, via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.
It’s worth noting that most of the RG3-Cowboys talk has been manufactured by the media and Griffin’s former college coach. RG3 is reportedly interested in the Cowboys, but why wouldn’t he be?
The Cowboys aren’t the only team RG3 has been linked to this offseason. While his career has been a disappointment thus far, Griffin is still just 26. He won’t cost a lot of money and still has tremendous potential if he is placed in the right situation.
