A former Dallas Cowboys player is facing charges stemming from a car crash that led to the death of a motorcyclist.

A 27-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning while driving on U.S. Highway 75 near Dallas, via WFAA. No other people of vehicles were initially located at the scene of the crash.

Plano Police said 25-year-old Kelvin Joseph Jr. called and said he had been involved in a crash while driving on the same stretch of road in his BMW.

Police said they observed signs of intoxication when speaking to Joseph, a former Cowboys cornerback. He was arrested and charged with DWI and collision involving personal injury or death.

Joseph was the Cowboys’ second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He played two seasons with the team and tallied 36 total tackles, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in 26 games. He has also played for Miami, Indianapolis, and Seattle, and most recently played for the D.C. Defenders of the UFL.

In 2022, Joseph was a person of interest in a murder investigation that ultimately led to two arrests. Joseph was not among those arrested, and his attorney said that Joseph was a passenger in the vehicle from which shots were fired, but was not the shooter.
