Report: Eagles likely to pay Nick Foles $1 million incentive he fell short on

Nick Foles

Nick Foles fell just four plays short of reaching an incentive in his contract with the Philadelphia Eagles that would have paid him $1 million, but it sounds like the team intends to take care of the quarterback they are once again counting on in the postseason.

Foles was on track to earn a $1 million incentive that would have kicked in if he played 33 percent of the Eagles’ offensive snaps this year, but he fell just short when he was forced to leave the field for four plays in Week 17 after bruising his ribs. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that the team is working out a way to pay him the bonus anyway.

Considering he has once again helped lead the team to the playoffs with Carson Wentz sidelined, it makes sense that Foles is going to be taken care of by the Eagles. He was a big reason why the team won the Super Bowl last year, and they’re hoping he can lead another magic run beginning with a win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Foles and the Eagles have a mutual option that would keep him with the team next season if both sides exercised it, but that does not seem like the most likely outcome.
