With only a few days before the Dallas Cowboys open the season against the New York Giants, rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott just got some good news.
Elliott has been cleared in his domestic violence case, his father, Stacy Elliott, announced on Twitter Tuesday.
My son has been vindicated! Truth has prevailed! If he had voliated one of OUR core values I personally would have had him charged! #Justice

Shortly afterwards, the Columbus City Attorney’s Office confirmed that Elliott will indeed not be facing charges, per Jerod Smalley of NBC4 Columbus.

Drew Davison of the Star-Telegram also reports however that the NFL is still reviewing the alleged incident.

Elliott’s former girlfriend had made the allegations of domestic assault against the No. 4 overall pick in July. While the Cowboys never appeared to believe the claims, it was the first in a series of less-than-ideal off-field occurrences for Elliott this summer.
Facing the possibility of a massive role in the backfield, hopefully Elliott can now focus all of his attention on the coming season for the Cowboys.
