Joe Buck had savage comment about Drew Lock
Drew Lock led the Seattle Seahawks to an upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, and it is safe to say Joe Buck was as surprised about that as anyone.
Lock started for Seattle in place of Geno Smith, who missed the game with a groin injury. When the Seahawks had a 4th-and-1 in the first quarter, Buck noted on the ESPN broadcast that the analytics approach would have been for Seattle to go for it. Buck then took a harsh swipe at Lock.
“ANALYTICS SAY TO GO FOR IT, BUT THAT DOES NOT FACTOR IN DREW LOCK”

“Analytics says this is a go-for-it situation (with) 2 yards or less, but that does not factor in Drew Lock,” Buck said.
Buck was not wrong. The analytics would not have factored in that the Seahawks had a backup quarterback in the game. Though, the Seahawks were on their own side of the field and already trailing 7-0. They almost certainly would have punted even if Smith was in the game.
If Buck was trying to take a shot at Lock, the quarterback got the last laugh. Lock threw a beautiful game-winning touchdown pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 28 seconds left to stun the Eagles. You can see the finish here.
