Jon Runyan Jr. had one of the more memorable days of his life on Saturday when he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers. He accidentally made it more memorable by declining their phone call when selecting him.
Runyan said he was texting with his agent when he received an incoming call. Unfortunately for him, his thumb happened to be right near the decline button, and he accidentally rejected the call.
“I declined a call from Green Bay, Wisconsin,” Runyan said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “I tried to call back and my call didn’t go through, and I had no idea what I just did.”
Fortunately for Runyan, the Packers called back seconds later, and made him their sixth-round pick.
This was a draft that was surprisingly free of technical difficulties except on Runyan’s end, it seems. Maybe he looked a little bit like this guy when the accident went down.
