Matt Prater helped the Buffalo Bills orchestrate an incredible comeback on Sunday night just days after he signed with the team, and the veteran kicker had a great message for Josh Allen before the game.
The Bills scored 16 points in the final 3:56 to come from behind and beat the Baltimore Ravens 41-40 at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y. Prater made the game-winning kick from 32 yards out as time expired.
Prater joined the Bills on Thursday after Tyler Bass was placed on injured reserve. Following the win over Baltimore, Allen said he had just met Prater for the first time a couple of days prior. The star quarterback also revealed what Prater said to him before Sunday night’s game.
“Honestly, I met him in the locker room two days ago. He showed me a video of his son playing quarterback. That’s how we met,” Allen said. “Today, before the game, he comes up to me in the locker room, before we even take the field, and he just said, ‘Hey, I promise you I’m gonna give you everything I’ve got tonight.’ He’s a guy that’s been around the league for a long time, and I’m just thankful he’s here for us.”

Prater made all three of his field-goal attempts and both extra-point attempts against the Ravens. The 41-year-old shared a great moment with Allen on the field following the comeback.
Prater is in his 19th NFL season. He was with the Arizona Cardinals for four seasons from 2021-2024 prior to joining the Bills, so the stakes are a bit higher now. Fortunately, he was able to deliver in his first big moment in Buffalo.
