Reporter pumps brakes on Josh McDaniels leaving Patriots

Josh McDaniels has been listed as a potential candidate for the Green Bay Packers’ head coaching vacancy, but one NFL reporter says we need to pump the brakes on that rumor.

FOX NFL reporter Jay Glazer appeared on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on Friday and reminded everyone that McDaniels backed out of a head coaching job with the Colts last season.

“It’s way too early to tell (what will happen with Green Bay). I can’t believe people are even jumping on ‘Oh, Josh McDaniels’. Josh McDaniels had a job last year and bailed out after he had the job. So let’s pump the brakes on ever believing that Josh McDaniels would do anything,” Glazer said.

Glazer also said that the Packers job might not be as desirable as believed. The chance to coach Aaron Rodgers seems appealing, but there are questions about how much power such a coach would have.

McDaniels was the head coach of the Broncos in 2010 and 2011 but was fired during a 3-9 campaign in his second year. He returned to the Patriots after that and has been with them since. He is currently the favorite for the job, according to oddsmakers.

Below is video of Glazer’s comments.
