Josh Norman shrugs off barbs from Giants over Week 1 performance

Josh Norman’s new division rivals have been gleefully prodding at the cornerback after Washington’s secondary was shredded in Week 1, but Norman himself isn’t getting too drawn into it.

The cornerback was pointed in his assessment of his detractors when speaking to reporters on Thursday.

“When you’re at the top of your profession, someone is always trying to grab at you just because they’re not at the top of your profession,” Norman said, via John Keim of ESPN. “You just have to extend down your arm and hand them an olive branch.

“Crazy thing is, I guess if you say something, you get yourself on TV — cause I’m always on. Add up the number of people who are saying something against me, compared to how many I say something to them, you’ll see the vast number of people. Wow.”

Norman was particularly sharp in his response to Victor Cruz, who isn’t even facing Washington until Week 3.

“Not somebody else’s team that we’re not even playing this week,” Norman said. “I’m sure they need to worry about their matchups. Let’s keep it that way. It’s like, ‘Wow.’ You take it with a grain of salt.”

A star receiver who is facing Washington this weekend had his say on their coverage, too. Norman is finding out that there is no love lost in the NFC East, and a lot of people are chomping at the bit to get at him.
