Julian Edelman using Tom Brady’s departure as motivation for 2020 season

Julian Edelman

Julian Edelman and Tom Brady have one of the longest-running and most powerful bromances in the NFL, and many have wondered what the wide receiver’s mindset will be this season now that Brady has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. According to one New England Patriots player, Edelman is as motivated as ever.

Despite speculation that Edelman may want the Patriots to trade him, one of the 34-year-old’s teammates told Michael Giardi of NFL Network that Edelman is already drawing motivation from “people thinking we’re no good and he’s just a product of Brady.”

Edelman loved catching passes from Brady, but he has also made it known on numerous occasions how much he loves playing for Bill Belichick. There have been reports that the Patriots have no intention of trading Edelman, so they are likely going to lean on him to be a leader and help second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham develop. Stidham has already organized some workouts with teammates this offseason, and Edelman is said to have taken part.

Edelman created a stir with his social media activity not long after Brady signed with the Bucs, but all indications have been that the Super Bowl LIII MVP is not going anywhere. He has as much to prove as any of his teammates, and it seems like he is up to the challenge.
