Kirk Cousins sends message to players who were not drafted in first three rounds
Hundreds of prospects are still hoping to hear their names called at some point this weekend at the NFL Draft, and that is a feeling Kirk Cousins remembers quite well. In advance of the fourth round on Saturday, the Minnesota Vikings quarterback had a message for those players.
Cousins, who was the 102nd overall pick in the the 2012 draft, told players who haven’t heard their names called to “stay patient and trust the process.”
I’ll never forget 7 years ago, sitting around wondering what would happen to me on day 3 of the draft. To those guys who are still waiting to hear their name called, just stay patient and trust the process. God always has a bigger plan.

Cousins, of course, ended up playing under the franchise tag in Washington for two consecutive seasons and making over $40 million. He then signed a three-year, $84 million deal with the Vikings that is fully guaranteed. Being drafted in the fourth round obviously didn’t hold him back from finding success at the highest level.
We already heard a similar message from Dak Prescott before the draft, and there are countless other players who have been mid- to late-round picks and proved teams wrong. It will surely happen again in 2019.
