Mark Gastineau sounded drunk during speech to Jets fans (Audio)
Former Jets defensive end Mark Gastineau was inducted along with Wesley Walker into the franchise’s Ring of Honor on Monday night, and he may have made his way into the Internet Hall of Fame with his speech.
Gastineau, who was a five-time Pro Bowler, addressed the crowd at halftime as the Jets were losing to the Texans. He called out fans for booing, and sounded hammered while doing so.
Jimmy Traina shared the audio with us and called the speech “Joe Namath Part II,” which is a reference to the Hall of Fame quarterback’s infamous drunken interview with Suzy Kolber in 2003.
Below is audio of the speech:
If you thought Gastineau sounded impaired, you weren’t alone. The hate tweets were strong against him, even from notable journalists:
The takeaway from Mark Gastineau’s induction speech? Steroids are bad, kids. Very bad.

Mark Gastineau appears to have already donated his brain to science.

Mark Gastineau was worth the price of admission. He is absolutely hammered and calling the fans out for booing. #Hallelujah #Jets

If Gastineau were drunk while addressing the fans, that wouldn’t be new. We’ve seen former Red Sox players do it, and the Patriots owner, too.
