Mike Tomlin hints that Steelers were right to trade Antonio Brown
Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has been rather quiet this offseason as drama has unfolded around his team, but it seems quite clear that the decision to part ways with Antonio Brown is one he approves of.
Tomlin spoke for the first time since January on Monday, essentially saying that for the Steelers to succeed, they will need to have players who want to be a part of the organization — and that those who don’t feel that way should be allowed to leave.
In first comments since Jan. 2, Mike Tomlin said about his team: "We can’t do this with hostages. We need volunteers. We need good players, good guys who want to be here. If guys can’t check those boxes, it’s probably best for all parties involved that we go our separate ways.”

Much was made of Brown’s disagreements with Ben Roethlisberger, but in the season-ending injury controversy that started all this, Tomlin and Brown were clearly not seeing eye-to-eye either. It’s pretty clear that the coach isn’t exactly upset to see his star wide receiver go.
