The Tennessee Titans have plenty of needs, and a new report suggests they may be torn on how to fill them through the NFL Draft.
Dianna Russini of The Athletic said on her “Scoop City” podcast that some within the Titans organization still want the team to trade down from No. 1 overall due to numerous roster needs. Russini added that, in her opinion, the organization does not have any clear conviction yet regarding what they want to do with the selection.
“I’d put it like this. I’m not sure if there’s conviction yet. That was my sense,” Russini said.

Russini’s assertion is somewhat backed up by recent comments from coach Brian Callahan, who indicated that four players are under consideration at No. 1. The Titans also have not ruled out trading the pick.
Recent reports had suggested that the Titans were growing more confident in quarterback Cam Ward, and would likely be heading in that direction. They may still be leaning that way, but the final decision evidently has not been made yet.
The Titans had suggested they would prefer to get a “generational talent” in the draft. Few think Ward is that, but other players at other positions may fit the bill better. As long as that is the case, the Titans may be divided on who to select and what to do with the pick.
