The Green Bay Packers had one of the worst special teams units in the NFL this season, and that played a significant role in their early playoff exit. They may be on the verge of making a huge move to address those issues.
Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Packers head coach Matt LaFleur wants to hire Rich Bisaccia as his special teams coordinator. The Packers have been in discussions with Bisaccia and may be willing to pay him a hefty salary.
#Packers coach Matt LaFleur has been in talks with Las Vegas Raiders special teams coach / interim coach Rich Bisaccia bout becoming the #Packers' special teams coach, according to two sources. Packers will have to pay a lot to get him and they may be willing to do it.

Bisaccia, 61, was hired by Jon Gruden in 2018 as special teams coordinator of the Las Vegas Raiders. He was promoted to interim head coach this season after Gruden resigned due to his leaked email scandal. Bisaccia led the team to the playoffs and earned a tremendous amount of respect from Raiders players. He was considered a potential head coach candidate by at least one team this offseason.
It’s no surprise that the Packers are willing to spend big to fix their special teams problems. They had a field goal blocked and a punt blocked and returned for a touchdown in their loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round. They then made an inexcusable error on the 49ers’ game-winning field goal.
