The Los Angeles Rams have been hit with a significant fine over a sideline incident that occurred at the end of their win over the San Francisco 49ers last week.
After blowing a huge lead in their eventual 27-24 loss to the Rams at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., the 49ers tried a series of desperation laterals on their final play of the game. An offensive lineman tried to flip the ball back to Brandon Aiyuk, who was leveled by Rams safety Kamren Kinchens as the ball rolled out of bounds and time expired.
Kinchens then bumped into Aiyuk as the 49ers wide receiver got to his feet on the Los Angeles sideline. That led to a scuffle during which Aiyuk was shoved by Rams cornerback Derion Kendrick, who was inactive and not in uniform.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Rams were fined $100,000 over the incident. Kendrick and Kinchens were also fined $5,656 each — the former for unsportsmanlike conduct and the latter for the hit on Aiyuk.

Kendrick is out for the 2024 season after he tore his ACL in training camp. Because he was not active, the NFL treated the situation the same as they would if a coach or staffer got into it with a player who was in uniform. We saw a similar incident when a Philadelphia Eagles staffer shoved an opposing player last year.
The Niners were up 21-7 in the third quarter before they missed a field goal and allowed the Rams to score three straight times. Kendrick and others on the L.A. sideline wanted to let Aiyuk hear about it, and it cost their team a hefty sum.
