Seahawks players fight on sideline during ugly first half

Seattle Seahawks fight

A pair of Seattle Seahawks players got into a sideline scuffle, seemingly over a penalty committed by one of them.

Seahawks veteran defensive lineman Jarran Reed and linebacker Derick Hall got into it on the sideline during the second quarter of Sunday’s game at Lumen Field in Seattle, Wa. Reed appeared to be furious with Hall after the second-year linebacker committed a crucial roughing the passer penalty that extended a Buffalo Bills drive and led to a touchdown.

Reed and Hall had to be separated as the two grappled with each other.

Any frustration toward Hall is certainly understandable. Without his penalty, the Seahawks would have held the Bills to a field goal attempt that would have made it 10-3. Instead, the Bills got a free first down and went on to score a touchdown just before halftime to extend their lead to 14-3.

Sideline confrontations are not necessarily unusual in the NFL, but they are never a good luck. Even if the frustration in this instance is understandable, the Seahawks would have preferred that Reed and Hall kept their cool in this instance.

The 31-year-old Reed has been an anchor of the Seattle defensive line this season. Hall was a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he has five sacks on the year.
