Seahawks sign coach Pete Carroll to extension

Pete Carroll gum woo

Pete Carroll will be sticking around Seattle a while longer.

The Seahawks announced Monday that Carroll has signed a multi-year extension to remain the team’s coach through 2021.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the extension makes Carroll one of the NFL’s highest-paid coaches.

Carroll’s previous deal took him through the 2019 season. Given the year the Seahawks have had, locking him down beyond that was both a top priority and a no-brainer. Despite some tumult last season, Carroll has moved past it, leading his team to a 9-6 record and a playoff spot in what was expected to be a rebuilding year. He’s 88-54 overall with a Super Bowl, and is one of the NFL’s most accomplished coaches. The Seahawks will be thrilled to keep him long-term.
