Teddy Bridgewater expects to start in 2018

Teddy Bridgewater

Teddy Bridgewater expects to be back on an NFL field as a starting quarterback in 2018.

Bridgewater said Monday that he “definitely” sees himself as a starter in 2018 no matter what happens.

There is a lot to unpack here. First, Bridgewater is set to free agency, and he may be laying down the gauntlet here stating that he wants to start wherever he winds up, be it Minnesota or elsewhere. The Vikings also have Case Keenum and Sam Bradford, but they’re free agents too. Bridgewater, meanwhile, has more or less sat out two seasons due to a catastrophic knee injury, with his only game action of the year coming in garbage time. That begs the question of what he has to offer. The Vikings — and any other team that may want him — will have to come up with a good answer if they’re going to commit.
