Tim Hightower is Convinced the Redskins Will Be in the Super Bowl

The Super Bowl has been decided.  Those of you keeping score at home already know who will be heading to Indianapolis for Super Bowl 46.  Start making your travel arrangements, Jets and Redskins fans.  Bart Scott said it would be a joke if the Jets don’t win the Super Bowl and Rex Ryan compared himself to Babe Ruth over the offseason.  Rex Grossman has predicted the Redskins will win the NFC East and now his teammate, Tim Hightower, is talking Super Bowl.

“The fun will be in February when you guys are interviewing us up in Indy,” Hightower told CSNWashington.com via Pro Football Talk. “Very bold prediction. But I’m gonna stand by it.”

Wow.  The only thing I can think of is that this is Hightower’s way of trying to deflect the attention away from the fact that he may have abruptly lost his starting job on Sunday.  After three solid games and a massive workload to begin the season, the Redskins lead back is rumored to have been sluggish in practice and battling a minor shoulder injury.  Mike Shanahan decided to take the ball out of his hands in the second half against the Rams on Sunday, which opened the window for Torain to rush for 135 yards and a score on 19 carries.

Hightower can make all the insane predictions he wants during the bye week, but that doesn’t change the fact that his fantasy owners should be scrambling to the waiver wire to grab Torain.  If he wants to help the Redskins live up to his own prediction, he’ll have to work harder than he has all year during the week off.
