Shedeur Sanders seems to be in danger of falling out of the top 10 in the upcoming NFL Draft, and Todd McShay is the latest well-known analyst to predict that the slide is going to happen. What is perhaps more surprising is that McShay does not believe Sanders will be the second quarterback taken.
McShay’s latest mock draft for The Ringer was published on Thursday. The longtime draft guru included a few surprises, the most notable of which was former Ole Miss star Jaxson Dart being selected by the New Orleans Saints with the No. 9 overall pick. McShay has Dart coming off the board before Sanders.
McShay believes Dart has what new Saints head coach Kellen Moore is looking for, which is a “a bigger, mobile, stronger-armed quarterback,” according to Jacob Camenker of USA Today.

Dart is the second quarterback taken in McShay’s mock, with Cam Ward going first overall to the Tennessee Titans. The analyst then has the Cleveland Browns trading up to draft Shedeur Sanders at No. 15.
In total, McShay predicts that four quarterbacks will be taken in the first round. He also has the New York Giants trading up to select Jalen Milroe at No. 24.
The mock draft continues the recent trend of Sanders’ stock tumbling while Dart’s rises. After he was initially viewed by many as a Day 2 pick, Dart has been soaring up draft boards with two weeks to go until the event.
According to one longtime ESPN analyst, Sanders might prefer to fall out of the top five of the draft.
Dart led the SEC with 4,279 passing yards last season. He threw 29 touchdown compared to 6 interceptions. Sanders finished with 4,134 passing yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 picks.
