Tyreek Hill apologizes for language on audio, says he’s working on ‘life skills’

Tyreek Hill

Tyreek Hill has maintained all along that he never crossed the line when physically disciplining his son and had nothing to do with the 3-year-old breaking his arm, but the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver apologized on Sunday for some of his other behavior.

While speaking with reporters at training camp, Hill admitted he needs to work on his “life skills.” More specifically, he said the way he was heard talking to his fiancee, Crystal Espinal, on an audio recording is unacceptable.

“I’m just here to man up to what I did,” Hill said. “On the audio, my bad language, I’m gonna man up to that. I don’t want anybody talking to my little sister or my daughter or my mom like that. That’s very disrespectful. My mom got onto me and thumped me in the ear like, ‘Come on (Tyreek), grow up out of that.’ Never again. I’m growing as a human being and as a person. Never again.”

After investigating, police were reportedly convinced that Hill played no role in his son breaking his arm and determined it was simply an accident. Hill also presented the NFL with evidence to support that, and the league ultimately decided to not suspend him. However, many people were shocked the NFL did not discipline Hill over the way he spoke to Espinal.

Espinal could be heard telling Hill on the audio that his son is terrified of him, to which Hill responded, “You need to be terrified of me, too, b—.” It was also suggested that Hill has used a belt to discipline the couple’s son.

Hill recently issued a statement once again denying the allegations against him, but this is the first time he has publicly acknowledged the threatening language he used toward his fiancee.
