There were some broadcast issues at the start of the 2025 Ryder Cup on Friday, and fans were not pleased.
USA Network carried the first round of the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, N.Y. The first group of foursomes play teed off at 7:10 a.m., and viewers noticed an annoying problem after Bryson DeChambeau hit a monster tee shot.
For some reason, the audio from the gallery was not properly synced up with what was happening on the broadcast. The technical became most obvious after DeChambeau rolled in a huge birdie putt on the first hole to give himself and partner Justin Thomas an early lead over the European duo of Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton.
The roars from the crowd were heard on a significant delay.
Dear USA/NBC you had 2 years to figure out the sound and it's delayed by 2 seconds, nothing like seeing a massive putt drop and not hearing a reaction. Figure it out @USANetwork

The USA network live sound engineer is ruining the telecast – roars coming at least a second after the action. All this hype for a huge event, we get a huge moment from Bryson, and it’s fumbled.

USA Network having sound issues at the early stages of the Ryder Cup that viewers have been waiting 2 years for, is something.

To the USA broadcast, how do you not have the sound linked up to the video. Gotta fix that

The sound on USA is an absolute disaster

It seemed like the issues were resolved rather quickly, but that is not the start USA Network wanted.
The gallery at Bethpage Black is expected to be one of the most enthusiastic in Ryder Cup history, with the U.S. team looking for revenge after losing 16.5-11.5 to Team Europe at the 2023 Ryder Cup. U.S captain Keegan Bradley got fans fired up with a vulgar message before the tournament began.
Hearing the roars and chants at the Ryder Cup is the best part of the TV viewing experience, which is why fans were so angry on Friday morning.
