Connor McDavid thought he had broken leg, but X-rays were negative
Connor McDavid’s luck really could not be much worse.
The Edmonton Oilers star suffered a leg injury in the team’s final game of the season Saturday. McDavid was sliding on the ice and crashed into the goalpost in the second period of Edmonton’s game against Calgary:

As McDavid was being treated on the ice, a camera showed him appearing to say something was broken.

Though McDavid said something was broken, the Oilers later said X-rays were negative.

McDavid still will have an MRI to see if he sustained other injuries.
The 22-year-old center was having another great season for Edmonton. His 116 points are second only to Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov. The former No. 1 overall pick led the league in points the last two seasons to capture the Art Ross Trophy. He also won the Hart Memorial Trophy two seasons ago.
The Oilers have a losing season this year and are missing the playoffs for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
