With less than a minute remaining in regulation during Game 2 of their first round playoff series, the Red Wings and Lightning engaged in an all out brawl.
In front of the Tampa Bay net, Detroit’s Brad Richards slashed Tampa Bay’s Andrej Sustr. Then, all hell broke loose. Gloves dropped and punches began to fly. Chief among those delivering blows was Justin Abdelkader, who unloaded on Mike Blunden.
14 penalties were called as a result of the fracas, including a game misconduct for Abdelkader.
After the game, Blunden chalked it up to being playoff hockey. However, it appears there’s a decent chance his teammates aren’t likely to let Abdelkader’s actions go without retaliation.
Asked if he expects there to be any retaliation in Game 3 for Abdelkader punching Blunden, Cedric Paquette responds "probably" #TBLightning
