Paige VanZant was submitted by Michelle Waterson at “UFC on FOX” Saturday night in Sacramento and said after the loss that she is going to pursue other opportunities outside of fighting, though she insists she’ll be back as a fighter.

VanZant fell to 7-3 after her defeat, which marked her second loss in three fights. The UFC strawweight has developed a name outside of her MMA fame, highlighted by her runner-up finish on “Dancing With the Stars.” She said after her loss that she has opportunities outside of fighting she’d like to pursue.

PVZ: My opportunities are many and I’m gong to pursue them as well. I have many passions and I’m not going to just stick to one thing.

PVZ: I have a lot of opportunities outside of fighting. I’m going to pursue those for a while.

Even though VanZant is going to try other things outside of fighting, she is definitely going to return to the cage. She’s just not sure how long she will take before resuming her training.

VanZant: I was meant for the spotlight. I’ll be back. I’m gonna have the belt one day.

— MMAFighting.com (@MMAFighting) December 18, 2016

VanZant: I’m not hurt at all right now. I’m gonna go back to the gym. Maybe I’ll fight in a few months, or six months. We’ll see.

VanZant has already successfully transitioned into entertainment with her foray on “Dancing With the Stars,” so she might have aspirations of doing more of that. She might also want to be like Gina Carano and Ronda Rousey, who used their MMA fame to launch acting careers.

Knowing that MMA won’t last forever, it’s wise of VanZant to pursue multiple opportunities to set herself up for when her fighting career ends.
