After getting three gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Gabby Thomas is now getting a ring as well.
The United States sprinting star Thomas made the announcement to social media on Tuesday that she is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Spencer McManes. Thomas’ announcement came as part of a feature for Vogue Magazine.

In the feature, Thomas shared that McManes proposed to her on the rooftop of an Airbnb that they were staying at during a recent staycation in Texas (where Thomas got her master’s degree in epidemiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston).
Thomas, 28, and McManes, 29, have been together since 2021. McManes, who was a quarterback at Yale from 2013-16 and also plays club rugby in Austin, Tex., was briefly featured with Thomas in the Netflix series “Sprint.”
Widely seen as the best women’s 200-meter runner in the world right now, Thomas, a Harvard graduate, is coming off a highly impressive performance at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. She won an individual gold medal in the 200m and also was part of the United States’ gold medal-winning relay teams in the 4x100m (with Sha’Carri Richardson, TeeTee Terry, and Melissa Jefferson) and in the 4x400m (with Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Shamier Little, and Alexis Holmes).
The U.S. win in the 4×400 was also remarkable for how absolutely dominant it was.
Prior to Paris, Thomas won two Olympic medals at the 2020 Tokyo Games (bronze in the 200m and silver in the 4x100m relay). She holds the fourth-fastest women’s 200m time ever (21.60 seconds) and now has something else to brag about too — an engagement ring.
