I see the Giants in last place this season, maybe 4th ahead of the rockies but totally irrelavant in the race.

Their rotation is comparable to LA and SD but their offense features Dave Roberts, Randy Winn, Pedro Feliz and Benji Molina. Ouch.

this streak is a great thing. when the giants finish 30 games out, we can say they had a good winning streak and were in first place at one point during the year.

but the offense is attrocious. the bullpen isn't this good, and the starting pitching can't be expected to give up less than 3 runs a game.

the future isn't that bad. the starting pitching is really pretty good. if everyone's healthy, cain's a future No. 1. zito a capable 2. lincecum a No. 2 in a three spot. and lowry a decent four.

good rotation. bad hitting. they'll need a good, young bat to replace bonds and to keep fans in the seats.

I see the Giants going in the opposite direction. While I rated them decently in my spring training preview, they will be in a heap of trouble in a few season. I don't see more than one of their current position players being in the lineup two years from now, and they don't have any good position player prospects.

The pitching is a different story -- they should be good in that dept. for the future with Zito, Cain, Lowry, and Lincecum. But they'll be in a heap of trouble with their lineup.
