There’s a reason why people (including himself) are calling him Superman — it’s because he does crazy things on the court. A clear example of Dwight Howard’s strength was when his dunk in the first quarter brought down the shot clock, causing a lengthy delay in the game. Check it out in case you missed it:
It’s weird to see that much damage caused because the dunk didn’t even seem to be the least bit vicious. Meanwhile, Shaquille O’Neal is bitterly wondering what the big fuss is all about.

OVERRATED
Big Country Bryant Reeves destroyed some backboards, as did Darvin Ham and so on. How great are they?
Darryl Dawkins seems to get forgotten but he broke many a backboard.
Howard doesn’t have a fraction the ability a guy like Wilt Chamberlain had. On Dwight’s ’superman’
dunk, he jumped from 3 feet inside the free throw line and still couldn’t reach the rim with his hand.
Wilt could routinely jump from completely behind the line and put it in the hoop. I’d like to see
’superman’ do that 10 times a night. I found a great photo of Wilt recently where flat footed he
jumped straight up to block a shot and his elbow was over the rim. Guys nowadays can get
that high with a good run, but straight up flat footed? no way.
