George Russell wins F1 opener in Australia

March 7, 2026 by Sam Ahn
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

George Russell and Kimi Antonelli claimed a 1-2 finish in the opening race of the F1 season at the Australia Grand Prix on Sunday. The win validates the pundits who had been predicting that Mercedes would be the team to beat under the 2026 regulations, where power is split 50-50 between the engine and batteries units.

Despite overtaking both Mercedes drivers to begin the race, Ferrari exercised poor race strategy by failing to pit either Charles Leclerc or Lewis Hamilton on one of several early virtual safety cars. This resulted in both drivers having to pit later in the race, and them finishing 3rd and 4th, respectively.

Behind the Ferraris were defending champion Lando Norris in 5th, and Max Verstappen, who battled all the way from P19 to 6th.

In what could be considered a big disappointment for Aston Martin, Lance Stroll finished 17th and Fernando Alonso was forced to retire early.

With the elimination of DRS being replaced by overtake mode and active aero, teams are still trying to optimize race strategy. While Mercedes’ straight-line speed was clearly an advantage in Australia where a lack of braking zones negated the battery harvesting need for overtake mode, a different track may yield other competitive advantage for other teams.

Joe Rogan calls out ‘casuals’ for booing during UFC 326 main event

March 7, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Joe Rogan was not happy with the fans in attendance Saturday during the main event of UFC 326.

Rogan was on the call for the UFC lightweight championship bout between champion Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira at T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nev. Oliveira (37-11-0) thoroughly dominated Holloway (27-9-0) to take the title in a wire-to-wire victory by unanimous decision.

Oliveira repeatedly took down Holloway and outclassed him while on the mat. While the showcase impressed the judges enough to score an uncontested win, the fans weren’t as pleased.

Many of them were heard booing throughout the ground-focused match, prompting Rogan to call them out during one instance in the fourth round.

“Listen to these casuals booing,” Rogan said. “How do you not appreciate this complete domination by a master?”

Rogan, a longtime mixed martial arts commentator, knows and appreciates a sterling technical performance in the octagon when he sees one. But most fans paying good money to watch a UFC fight during their visit to Las Vegas are there to see bloody knockouts more than constant grappling on the ground.

All three judges scored the match 50-45 in favor of Oliveira, who took Holloway down five times during the five-round fight.

Desmond Bane making fun of Rudy Gobert

Desmond Bane tried to start beef again in bizarre moment with Rudy Gobert

March 7, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Desmond Bane seems to always let his intrusive thoughts win.

The standout shooting guard has been quite the on-court troublemaker in his first season with the Orlando Magic. That didn’t change Saturday in his team’s interconference clash against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn.

Bane was defending the paint as Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards shoveled a pass toward Rudy Gobert in what should have led to an uncontested dunk. Instead, Gobert bobbled the ball out of bounds, prompting Bane to mock the 7’1″ Frenchman right to his face.

“Oh my god! Oh my god!” Bane said repeatedly as he shoved Gobert along the baseline.

Gobert looked like he wanted to confront Bane before realizing it wasn’t worth the trouble. Bane, who stands nearly a foot shorter than Gobert, kept taunting Gobert like an annoying little brother. One can only imagine if Bane had done the same thing to a more hot-headed big man like Draymond Green or Isaiah Stewart.

It’s been a recurring theme for the Magic guard this season as Bane has had multiple on-court crash-outs since moving to Orlando. Bane even recently drew the ire of Gobert’s countryman in Victor Wembanyama.

Bane may have been feeling himself that evening as he went toe-to-toe with Edwards in a 119-92 Magic win. Bane led Orlando with 30 points on 10/17 shooting, while Edwards finished with 34 points in a losing effort.

Gobert’s untimely bobble of Edwards’ pass came just days after he jokingly threw shade at his Timberwolves teammates for not sharing the ball enough.

Jaylen Brown has great quote on Jayson Tatum’s return from injury

March 7, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Jaylen Brown was more than happy to see his Boston Celtics co-star play again for the first time in nearly 10 months.

Jayson Tatum was in the starting lineup next to Brown in the Celtics’ home game on Friday against the Dallas Mavericks at TD Garden in Boston, Mass. The dynamic tandem picked up their first win together since last May, when the Celtics were dueling with the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

During a live stream shortly after the game, Brown spoke candidly about the experience of watching Tatum slowly look more and more like his old self as each minute passed in Boston’s 120-100 victory over Dallas.

“It’s good to see, not only my brother back out there, but more importantly, besides basketball, the mental aspect, for those who’ve had injuries, it definitely has an effect on your mental health,” Brown shared to his Twitch viewers.

“So to see my boy smiling and seeing him out there having fun, doing what he loves to do, I got to see up close and personal when he went down with his injury, watching that and seeing that look in his eyes of uncertainty, for him to be out there smiling, that was a victory in itself.”

Brown made a superstar leap in his first 55 games without Tatum in the lineup. He averaged 28.9 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists in what many considered to be a dark horse MVP campaign as the Celtics’ unquestioned No. 1 option. Brown once again led Boston with 24 points in Friday’s game.

Some fans and media members have wondered how Tatum’s return would affect Brown in a season wherein the latter has clearly taken hold of the team. Brown himself sounded like he was just happy to play with his friend and longtime running mate again.

Freddy Peralta has a major ask in free agency

March 7, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The New York Mets have Freddy Peralta on an inexpensive contract for 2026, but they will have to make a much longer commitment if they want to keep him beyond that.

Peralta, the new Mets pitcher, spoke this week to Jon Heyman of the New York Post. During the interview, Peralta revealed that he wants a new contract for “seven or eight” years and noted that he is hoping to stay in New York in order to get it.

“I’m really comfortable here,” Peralta was quoted as saying. “I’m not going to lie. I’d love to be here. And I’d love to stay a long time.”

Peralta, who turns 30 in June, is a two-time MLB All-Star who posted an NL-leading 17 wins for the Milwaukee Brewers last season to go along with a 2.79 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, and 204 strikeouts over 33 total starts. He was acquired by the Mets via trade in January and is entering the last year of his contract this season at $8 million.

Given the sizable haul that the Mets gave up for Peralta, they are obviously confident in their chances of retaining him beyond the 2026 campaign. But for Peralta to be targeting a contract that runs through his late-30s is a pretty hefty ask.

Though the likes of Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor are on contracts of 10 years or more, the Mets’ longest contract for a pitcher is the five-year, $75 million deal that they gave to Kodai Senga before the 2023 season. If New York is not willing to go longer than that for an older (at the start of the deal) pitcher in Peralta, it may be time next winter for Peralta to consider one of his other major suitors instead.

Darryn Peterson raises eyebrows with comments about his future

March 7, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Darryn Peterson is doing his best to keep up with AJ Dybantsa … in multiple different ways.

The Kansas Jayhawks freshman sensation Peterson turned heads this week with some comments about his future. Speaking with reporters after the team’s 105-84 victory over rival Kansas State at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kan. on Saturday, Peterson said that he might be open to playing another year in college.

“I love Kansas,” said Peterson, who scored 27 points against Kansas State on 10/15 shooting. “I love everything about being here and my team.

“Maybe one more year,” Peterson added. “I might run it back.”

The 19-year-old Peterson is regarded as one of the most complete and NBA-ready prospects of the 21st century, averaging 19.5 points per game on 45/39/81 shooting splits. If Peterson declares for the draft this summer, he will have an excellent chance of being the No. 1 overall pick.

However, Peterson has also caused his own draft stock to dip in recent weeks. NBA teams are reportedly beginning to have doubts about Peterson at No. 1 overall due to his tendency to miss games this season because of recurring and (sometimes) seemingly random injuries. Peterson has only made 20 of a possible 31 appearances for Kansas this year, and even head coach Bill Self has sounded frustrated at times with Peterson’s lack of availability.

Meanwhile, Peterson’s comments come just days after his fellow top draft prospect Dybantsa of BYU also hinted at potentially forgoing the 2026 NBA Draft to return to school. Fans ultimately did not believe Dybantsa’s comments due to the immense upside of going to the NBA for elite prospects, and that may be the case here once again with Peterson’s comments.

Ja Morant looks ahead

Ja Morant speaks out against the Grizzlies’ big trade

March 7, 2026 by Darryn Albert
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Ja Morant is apparently still not seeing eye-to-eye with the Memphis Grizzlies organization.

The Grizzlies star Morant was interviewed this week by Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal. During the interview, Morant took some time to speak out against the team’s big trade of former Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. at the deadline.

“I wasn’t a fan of it,” said Morant of the Jackson trade. “But it’s a business.

“So, like I told [Jackson], he’s been a pro for eight years now, so continue to be that,” Morant added.

Morant also called the trade deadline “difficult” and, when asked if he believed that he himself would still be on the Grizzlies next season, replied, “I hope so.” You can read his full interview with Cole at the link here.

Memphis made the decision ahead of the Feb. 5 deadline to trade Jackson to the Utah Jazz in an eight-player deal (coming several months after they also traded away another core player in Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic). Morant had been teammates with Jackson ever since entering the NBA in 2019 and was clearly not happy to see Jackson go.

The two-time All-Star Morant, who has not played since Jan. 21 due to an elbow injury, might have also been traded away at the deadline if not for the fact that nobody was really interested in taking him. Tensions between Morant and the Grizzlies have been building for a while (including Morant getting suspended earlier this season after a confrontation with head coach Tuomas Iisalo), so he could just be following Jackson out the door come the NBA offseason.

Klay Thompson had sobering message after playing Jayson Tatum in his return from torn Achilles

March 7, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Few understand the pain Jayson Tatum went through to return from his torn Achilles better than Klay Thompson.

The Boston Celtics star returned from the leg injury on Friday, fittingly against Thompson’s Dallas Mavericks at TD Garden in Boston, Mass. Over the first 20 minutes of action, Tatum indeed looked like someone who had not played on an NBA court in nearly 300 days.

Tatum missed his first six shots, including a botched dunk that would’ve brought the house down had it gone in. He shook off the rust to finish with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists in a 120-100 win for the Celtics.

Thompson, who led the Mavericks in scoring with 19 points off the bench, spoke to The Athletic’s Jared Weiss after the game about Tatum’s long road to recovery.

“I know what that’s like,” Thompson said. “It’s not fun watching your teammates compete without you, especially a caliber player like Jayson, one of the best players in the world. You know what you’re capable of, you know how much you can help. So that’s the worst feeling, feeling like a prisoner in your own body.”

Thompson added that he was “very happy” to witness Tatum work his way back to full health.

When Thompson talks about “feeling like a prisoner in your own body,” he’s clearly speaking from experience. Thompson is five years removed from missing two full seasons due to back-to-back serious leg injuries.

The former Golden State Warriors star was sidelined for the entire 2019-20 season due to the torn ACL he suffered during the 2019 NBA Finals. He then missed the following season after he sustained a torn Achilles during a pickup game.

Those injuries marked the beginning of the end for Thompson, who still put up numbers in his return but was clearly not the player he once was pre-injury. His declining play eventually led to his messy exit from the Warriors.

Macklin Celebrini was left stumped by a student’s question about the Sharks

March 7, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Macklin Celebrini was sent into the deep blue by a student.

A student recently asked the San Jose Sharks star forward about the origin of his team’s name, leaving him stumped.

“That is a great question. They’ve always been called the Sharks, and I don’t know why. That’s a great question. I probably should find that out,” Celebrini responded.

You can watch the interaction here.

Celebrini is asked by a student why the #SJSharks are called the Sharks. His answer was amazing pic.twitter.com/3Hwjyk82jE

— Max Miller (@Real_Max_Miller) March 5, 2026

It was a wholesome moment nonetheless. At least Celebrini did not give an answer he wasn’t sure about. The last thing he would want in that situation was to impart incorrect information to students at an institution of learning.

The history of the team’s name can be traced back to 1990, when San Jose was awarded an NHL franchise. According to San Jose’s official website, the team collected over 5,700 submissions during a national sweepstakes to find the perfect name.

Fifteen submissions stood out, namely the Blades, Breakers, Breeze, Condors, Fog, Gold, Golden Gaters, Golden Skaters, Grizzlies, Icebreakers, Knights, Redwoods, Sea Lions, Sharks and Waves.

But when it was all said and done, San Jose settled with the Sharks.

One of the entries that did not make the final cut was Screaming Squids, which would have made for a much more interesting conversation between Macklin and the students.

Texas A&M star with speech impediment has strong message after getting mocked at NFL combine

March 7, 2026 by Renzo Pocholo Salao

Projected first-round pick KC Concepcion has spoken up after some fans mocked him for his speech impediment.

The Texas A&M wide receiver, who has a pronounced stutter, spoke to reporters last week during the NFL combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. The clips of Concepcion speaking initially went viral for the wrong reasons, as some fans piled on him for stuttering through some of his responses.

KC Concepcion was born in Rochester, NY and met with the #Bills here at the NFL Combine.

The Bills are his dad's favorite team and he's been watching them since he was a kid.

Instead of letting the mockery slide, Concepcion tried to serve as a role model for others who have struggled with speech impediments. He took to social media to send a message to anyone who has had to deal with similar issues.

“I just wanna say something if you have a speech impediment there is nothing wrong with us,” Concepcion wrote, via Instagram.

“I have had this stutter since I can remember talking this is apart of me this is who I am I cannot control this. wanna be a role model for those who may be scared to speak up who may be afriad [sic] and not confident in yourself. I stand with you this weekend has taught me a lot about myself and people out here in this world. I appreciate everyone who supports me and has reached out to me after these interviews.

“Don’t let a outside person thoughts, opinions get in the way of you being great of you achieving something in life. I am blessed to be in the position that I am in and I want to help give back to those who are scared to speak up who aren’t as confident. I stand with you I will always stand with you. We are different for a reason.”

Concepcion is a marquee prospect largely expected to hear his name called late in the first round come April. The Rochester, New York native tallied 61 catches for 919 yards with 9 touchdowns in his lone season at Texas A&M. He previously spent two seasons at N.C. State before the move to College Station.

Micah Parsons is devastated after learning 1 detail about Zaire Franklin’s trade

March 7, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

For the second offseason in a row, the Green Bay Packers made a big move by trading for a star defensive player.

The Packers turned heads Saturday with the acquisition of linebacker Zaire Franklin from the Indianapolis Colts.

That move elicited a strong reaction from Packers superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons, whose trade from the Dallas Cowboys to Green Bay just before the 2025 NFL season sent shockwaves across the league. This time around, it’s former Pro Bowler Franklin, who is coming to Titletown, with the Colts getting defensive tackle Colby Wooden in return.

“Oh shi#,” Parsons wrote in a social media post on X after seeing the trade.

He also seemed devastated to learn that acquiring Franklin came at the cost of losing Wooden.

Nooooooo https://t.co/sfjy4K0ElQ

— Micah Parsons (@MicahhParsons11) March 7, 2026

Parsons, who is on the mend from a torn ACL injury, appears to like Wooden as a teammate, but the two will be on different sides going forward.

Wooden was a fourth-round pick by Green Bay in 2023 and posted 87 combined tackles in a Packers uniform. He will play out the remaining year of his current contract with Indianapolis, which finished third in the AFC South in 2025 with an 8-9 record.

The Colts shopped the 29-year-old Franklin, with the hopes of getting under the salary cap. They finally found a new team for him, as the Packers added him to their stop unit that surrendered an average of 311.8 total yards per game in 2025.

Chargers re-sign 9-time Pro Bowler Khalil Mack

The Los Angeles Chargers are keeping Khalil Mack for at least one more season.

The Chargers on Saturday reportedly agreed to re-sign Mack with less than a week left before he would’ve hit free agency. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the pact is a one-year deal.

ESPN sources: Nine-time Pro-Bowl edge Khalil Mack reached agreement today with the Chargers on a one-year deal, and he now will be returning to Los Angeles for his 13th NFL season. Mack would have been a free agent this week, but no longer. pic.twitter.com/7inaM0f3Cz

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 8, 2026

Mack, entering his 13th season in the NFL, has openly contemplated retirement over his last few seasons. Reports emerged earlier this week that Mack planned to play in 2026.

While the Chargers were keenly interested in bringing Mack back, the legendary linebacker was supposedly “exploring all options” before choosing to stay in Los Angeles.

Mack had a solid 2025 campaign with the Chargers, his fourth with the team. He tallied 5.5 sacks, 11 quarterback hits, and 6 tackles for a loss across 12 games. He missed four weeks early in the season after he suffered a gruesome-looking elbow injury in the team’s Week 2 contest against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Once Mack takes the field for the first time next season, the Chargers will officially become the team he’s played for the longest. Before joining the Chargers in 2022, Mack had four-year stints with the then-Oakland Raiders and the Chicago Bears.

Jaylen Brown admits why he’s not the NBA’s best two-way player

March 7, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown is a man confident in his abilities. But he’s also true enough to himself to admit that, all things considered, he’s not the best two-way player in the NBA.

During a recent Twitch stream, Brown gave an intriguing take on being the league’s top two-way player, while also admitting he isn’t, as he acknowledged the existence of San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama.

“When I say I’m the best two-way player in the league, it’s not counting Wemby,” the former NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Brown said.

“Wemby don’t count. He’s not even human.”

Indeed, Wembanyama is an otherworldly basketball talent. There have been several basketball unicorns before him, but Wembanyama looks and plays like he belongs on a whole different level.

At 7-foot-4, Wembanyama can handle the ball like a guard and score from anywhere on the floor. Defensively, he’s a menace. He’s just in his third season in the NBA, but he’s already led the league twice in blocks.

Brown is certainly not the only NBA star who thinks highly of Wembanyama, and he and the Celtics will have to deal with the former No. 1 overall pick soon. Boston is scheduled to face the Spurs on Tuesday at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas.

49ers player delivers a powerful message after agreeing to a $17 million contract

March 7, 2026 by Rex Villas
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Eddy Pineiro is staying with the San Francisco 49ers for years to come.

The veteran kicker agreed to a 4-year, $17 million contract extension with the Niners, according to a report by Nick Wagoner of ESPN on Saturday.

One of the first things Pineiro did after news of his extension broke was to compose a heartfelt message that he shared on social media.

“First and foremost, all glory to God. None of this is possible without Him,” a grateful Pineiro wrote in a post on Instagram.

“I’m incredibly thankful to the coaches and the entire organization for believing in me and trusting me to continue this journey with you. Signing this contract Means the world to me and my family To the fans — thank you for the constant support and love. The work continues.”

Having proved himself as a dependable asset, Pineiro now looks to further impress San Franciso, which won 12 games in 2025.

Pineiro was initially signed by San Francisco after the team released kicker Jake Moody following a Week 1 win last season over the Seattle Seahawks.

The 49ers’ decision to go with Pineiro paid off for both sides. The Niners found stability at the kicker position with Pineiro, as he went 28-for-29 on his field goal attempts through 14 games. Conversely, he parlayed the opportunity into a multi-year contract, the biggest he’s ever received in his career, thus far.

Before joining the 49ers, the 30-year-old Pineiro played for the Chicago Bears, New York Jets and Carolina Panthers.

Ravens are giving their backup QB a big contract

March 7, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

The Baltimore Ravens are making sure they have a solid insurance policy behind Lamar Jackson going forward, and they are gladly paying for it.

The Ravens are re-signing quarterback Tyler Huntley to a new contract, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Huntley’s two-year deal is worth as much as $11 million.

Tyler “Snoop” Huntley is signing a two-year deal worth up to $11 million to return to the Baltimore Ravens, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus. pic.twitter.com/ES1pEwxzlu

— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 7, 2026

Huntley’s new deal immediately makes him one of the highest-paid backup quarterbacks in the NFL, but the Ravens have good reason for wanting to reward him. While Jackson is not necessarily injury-prone, his style of play can lead to him getting banged up. Huntley has shown the ability to step in and win games when Jackson is not available, as he went 2-0 as a starter for them last season.

The Ravens have long viewed Huntley as a reliable backup. He even got an unlikely Pro Bowl nod three years ago. For all the jokes about that, having someone like Huntley who knows the playbook and is obviously trusted by the team can be worth its weight in gold.

Huntley has thrown for 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions throughout his career, all as a backup. He does have a 5-5 career record as a starter for Baltimore.

A fan tried to steal the spotlight following the wild ending to Saturday’s game between the UTEP Miners and the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas.

As players from both sides gathered for the handshake line, an enraged UTEP fan suddenly picked up a chair and started shouting. It was not clear what triggered the fan’s outburst, but he surely disturbed the peace during what was supposedly a display of great sportsmanship between the two Conference USA teams.

The fan’s companion tried to hold him back, as others also tried to pacify the situation.

Jacksonville State sophomore guard attacked the gut of the Miners’ defense before making a kickout pass to senior guard Mostapha El Moutaouakkil, who took a wide-open shot from behind the arc. Minnesota Timberwolves forward Anthony Edwards is not shy about how he sees himself in the pantheon of NBA stars.

In a recent interview with Ahmad Rashad, Edwards was asked to name his all-time starting five. He named Steph Curry, Michael Jordan, and Kevin Durant, and debated between Hakeem Olajuwon and Shaquille O’Neal as his center. The fifth spot, however, went to himself.

Anthony Edwards at the two.

Most would probably disagree with Edwards slotting himself ahead of the likes of LeBron James and Kobe Bryant. They also, however, admired Edwards’ confidence, and said it was perfectly in line with his personality.

It was not that long ago that people were still debating whether Edwards can claim to be the face of the NBA, a debate that continues today. Edwards, however, is confident in his own greatness, and has never made any apologies for it.

Edwards is only 24, but has already established himself as a superstar. He is averaging 29.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game this season, and could certainly find himself in the conversation as one of the greats if he keeps up his current trajectory.

Maxx Crosby still wants to retire as a Raider

March 7, 2026 by Grey Papke
FacebookTweetLinkedInRedditThreadsWhatsAppEmail

Maxx Crosby has given his farewell to the Las Vegas Raiders in an emotional video in which he confessed he would still like to wear the uniform again someday.

In a 13-minute video, Crosby thanked everyone associated with the Raiders from ownership to fans after the team traded him to the Baltimore Ravens. He confessed to feeling like he “let y’all down” because the team was not more successful during his time there, but said he felt he “left everything I had on the table for this team.”

Crosby even took things a step further by saying he would still like to retire as a Raider when the time comes.

“I wanted everything good for the Raiders,” Crosby said. “I bleed silver and black. That will never change, and I’m a Raider for life. I truly want to finish, when it’s all said and done, in a Raiders jersey, whenever that time comes.”

Raider fans are unlikely to feel that Crosby let them down, even if the team did. This is a player whose relationship with the organization fractured in part because they would not let him play through an injury in a largely meaningless game. The fact that he is already musing about wearing a Raiders uniform again less than 24 hours after being traded sums up how he feels about the organization.

Crosby, 28, collected 69.5 career sacks with the Raiders in seven seasons, even though the team only made the playoffs once during his time there. He will now join a contender in Baltimore and should have a real chance to make a deep playoff run.

Nicaragua players had awesome gesture for teammate who blew game

Team Nicaragua players had an awesome gesture for pitcher Angel Obando after he gave up a walk-off home run during Saturday’s World Baseball Classic contest.

Obando let a 3-1 Nicaragua lead slip away against the Netherlands on Saturday at loanDepot park in Miami, Fla., and gave up a three-run walk-off home run to Ozzie Albies for a 4-3 defeat. The loss left the Nicaraguans at 0-2 and in last place of the WBC’s Pool D.

After the devastating mistake, Obando was quickly comforted by his teammates, who flocked to the mound to try to console him. Several literally lifted him up off the mound and accompanied him off the field.

There’s nothing unusual about seeing players comfort a teammate after a brutal mistake, but for relief pitchers, it usually happens once they return to the dugout. In this situation, many of Obando’s teammates went out of their way to make sure they were able to walk off the field with him.

This was the first walk-off home run in WBC history, so it was not the sort of memory Obando wanted to make. He threw 3.1 innings in the game and had kept the Dutch scoreless until the ninth.

Khris Middleton gets disciplined by the NBA over mouthpiece incident

Khris Middleton’s bank account is now a little bit lighter thanks to Thursday night’s mouthpiece incident.

The NBA announced on Saturday that they have fined the Dallas Mavericks forward Middleton a sum of $25,000. According to the league’s official release, Middleton threw his mouthpiece in the direction of the spectator stands during Thursday’s game against the Orlando Magic.

In the third quarter of the game at Kia Center in Orlando, Fla., Middleton was called for a loose ball foul after getting the ball poked away from him by Magic guard Jalen Suggs. Middleton did not like the foul call and proceeded to throw his mouthpiece.

In addition to the loose ball foul, Middleton received a technical foul for his outburst. It ended up being a costly point to give away too as the Magic went on to narrowly defeat the Mavericks by a final score of 115-114.

The three-time All-Star Middleton, 34, is in his first few weeks with Dallas after being acquired as part of last month’s Anthony Davis trade with the Washington Wizards. Since arriving on the Mavericks, Middleton has averaged 12.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game.

With the March 1 buyout deadline for playoff eligibility having already passed, Middleton will be finishing out the season in Dallas. But after doing his best impression of Steph Curry, Middleton will now have to pay a five-figure fine to the NBA league office.
