NFL makes unusual ticket move ahead of Colts-Commanders game in London

Right now, fans aren’t too excited about the upcoming game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London between the Washington Commanders and the Indianapolis Colts.

The game is scheduled for October 4, but the NFL has decided to drastically lower ticket prices in hopes of bringing more fans to the stadium, according to Ken Maguire of AP.

“After charging up to 245 pounds ($325) for tickets to see the Indianapolis Colts face the Washington Commanders, the league reduced prices in a bid to sell out the north London stadium, following slow sales in comparison to past years,” Maguire wrote. “The league, facing the possibility of attendance at a Tottenham game slipping under 60,000 for the first time, recently slashed remaining tickets down to 79 pounds ($105).”

A similar issue occurred over the summer as fans didn’t exactly rush to buy tickets.

In 2025, there were two games at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium: One between the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, and the other between the Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars. Both of those games had an attendance of just over 61,000. The highest mark for an NFL game at that stadium was 61,273, which came in 2023.

The NFL has made an increased effort to host international games, and the Baltimore Ravens and Dallas Cowboys just played in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in Week 3. The Rams and 49ers also played the first-ever NFL game in Australia in Week 1. There are also games scheduled this season in Paris, Madrid and Munich.

However, as far as London goes, tickets aren’t exactly flying off the shelves, so there could be some changes coming soon.

Ken Rosenthal calls for major change to MLB playoffs bracket

As the 2026 MLB playoffs kicked off on Tuesday, insider Ken Rosenthal made it clear that he hopes for a change in the future.

Rosenthal wants the bracket to be re-seeded after the Wild Card round, as he mentioned during an episode of “Foul Territory” on Tuesday.

“The re-seeding after the Wild Card series…that’s something that honestly needs to happen. They [MLB] has to recognize that you have the three best AL teams on one side of the bracket,” Rosenthal said.

This is something that fans and others have also asked for recently.

Rosenthal mentioned the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays all on one side of the bracket, with the Red Sox and Yankees facing off in the Wild Card series and the winner taking on the Rays in an AL East showdown.

In the National League, a potential NL West showdown between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers wouldn’t happen until the NLCS, but the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies face each other in the Wild Card round, and both are in the NL East.

Rosenthal said the re-seeding has been discussed quite a bit recently, and it will be interesting to see if MLB makes a change for the 2027 postseason.

Chris Sale just did something he hadn’t done since Opening Day

The Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies kicked off the 2026 MLB postseason with Game 1 on Tuesday afternoon at Truist Park in Atlanta, Ga.

Chris Sale took the mound for Atlanta, but Philadelphia wasted no time as Alec Bohm had an RBI double in the top of the first inning.

Sale walked Kyle Schwarber before allowing the double, and it marked the first time since Opening Day that the Braves star allowed a hit on a fastball above the strike zone.

Sale has been dominant this year, and he finished the regular season with a 14-9 record and a 2.16 ERA. However, Sale has now allowed three extra-base hits this season to Bohm.

In Sale’s last start against the Phillies, he went seven innings, allowing three runs on three hits in the Braves’ 6-5 extra-innings win, although Bohm went hitless in that showdown.

Right before that, Sale struck out Bryce Harper on a 100 MPH pitch, marking his second-hardest pitch of the season.

Thankfully for Sale, the Braves tied it up in the second via an RBI single by Mike Yastrzemski.

Padres make surprising Joe Musgrove decision after  727-day absence

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Joe Musgrove last played in Game 2 of the Wild Card series in 2024.

Yet, the Padres included Musgrove on their 26-man roster ahead of this year’s Wild Card series against the Chicago Cubs.

Musgrove suffered an injury in Game 2 of the 2024 series against the Atlanta Braves, and he ended up missing the rest of the postseason and undergoing Tommy John surgery. Musgrove then missed all of 2025, and he suffered a setback prior to 2026 that sidelined him for the entire season.

Musgrove did have a rehab assignment recently with the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas, so there was always a possibility he would return at some point this season.

Musgrove is a fan favorite, and he threw the franchise’s first-ever no-hitter in 2021.

San Diego plans to use Musgrove out of the bullpen, and his return could be as early as Tuesday night in what should be an exciting scene at Petco Park.

Vikings make QB move after JJ McCarthy trade

The Minnesota Vikings had only two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster after they traded JJ McCarthy to the New York Giants on Monday.

On Tuesday, the Vikings fixed that by moving Max Brosmer from the practice squad to the active roster. That means Brosmer can dress as the emergency QB behind Kyler Murray and Carson Wentz.

Brosmer made 2 starts in 2025 as McCarthy dealt with an injury. However, the undrafted QB out of Minnesota threw four interceptions in the game against the Seattle Seahawks at the end of November.

It was Brosmer’s first career NFL start, though facing the Super Bowl champions certainly wasn’t easy.

Last season, Brosmer finished with 47 completions on 71 attempts with zero touchdowns and four interceptions while appearing in a total of seven games.

The Vikings have a 3-0 record, and Kyler Murray has been the QB1, although Carson Wentz has appeared in two games due to Murray suffering an injury in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers.

The Vikings face the Miami Dolphins in Minnesota in Week 4.

Conflicting reports emerge on Deion Sanders’ starting QB for Colorado

Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes team has a 2-2 record against a massive showdown in Boulder against the No. 12 Texas Tech Red Raiders.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Isaac Wilson will start at quarterback for Week 5 after he replaced Julian Lewis in the Week 4 loss to the Baylor Bears.

However, right before that, Sanders himself said that he hadn’t made a decision as to who the starting QB would be.

Here’s another quote from Sanders, who said, “If” Wilson gets the nod.

Colorado stunned Georgia Tech in the opener with a 14-13 win, then had a blowout win against Weber State, 52-21, before back-to-back losses against Northwestern and Baylor. The Colorado game against Northwestern was a 41-7 defeat.

Lewis was a highly-touted recruit who was once recruited by USC, but he threw for just 733 yards with 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions through four games before being replaced by Wilson in Week 4.

Isaac Wilson is also the younger brother of former New York Jets QB Zach Wilson.

Giants make decision on Odell Beckham Jr. after just three games

Odell Beckham Jr.’s reunion with the New York Giants didn’t last long, and it wasn’t a success, either.

On Tuesday, the Giants released Beckham after he played just three games in his return to the franchise that drafted him in 2014

Beckham had zero catches and just 1 target this season, and he played just six snaps in the Giants’ Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz said the decision was mutual, and it allows Beckham to find a team that could give him more playing time. Schultz also added that the Giants offense will likely focus on the running game more, especially after the season-ending injury to QB Jaxson Dart.

The Giants signed Beckham in June, and he wound up making the 53-man roster going into Week 1.

The timing comes right on the heels of WR Braxton Berrios, who is the team’s punt returner and was out of practice squad elevations, according to ESPN’s Jordan Ranaan.

So, Odell Beckham Jr. is headed for free agency again.

Adam Schefter reveals when Jayden Daniels will need elbow surgery

Right now, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels might not need elbow surgery, but it seems he won’t be able to put it off for too long.

On Tuesday, ESPN insider Adam Schefter said Daniels will likely undergo surgery following the 2026 campaign.

“It sounds like Jayden Daniels is going to need surgery. He’s probably going to need surgery after the season,” Schefter said. “I don’t think hes going to play this week in London.”

Daniels suffered a gruesome elbow injury in Week 2, and it was later diagnosed as a dislocated elbow.

However, Commanders GM Adam Peters said before Week 3 that surgery wasn’t on the table, and Daniels even going on IR wasn’t something that was discussed, meaning the young QB should return sometime in the near future.

On the other hand, Schefter says Daniels will most likely need surgery at some point, and the insider said it seems most probable that he will undergo the surgery after the season comes to an end.

The Commanders have been using veteran Marcus Mariota in Daniels’ absence, although they are off to a 1-2 start and are hoping Daniels can return sooner rather than later.

Yankees make Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton decision for Wild Card series

The New York Yankees announced their roster for the Wild Card series against the Boston Red Sox.

Aaron Judge was not part of it, although Giancarlo Stanton was on the roster for the series that begins on Tuesday in the Bronx.

The Yankees are going with 10 pitchers for the series, and Ryan Weathers and Tim Hill were two pitchers who didn’t make the 26-man roster.

Judete was making his case to be on the roster after he suffered another injury on September 16, but the Yankees decided not to use him for this round.

Stanton is a bit of a surprise. He has been out since April 24 due to injuries, and he suffered a setback in August. However, he is on the roster, although Stanton was not listed in the starting lineup for Game 1.

Aaron Boone also said they plan to use Stanton in a pinch-hit role.

For Judge, the expectation was that he wouldn’t be available for the Wild Card series, although the reigning American League MVP certainly said he wanted to play.

The Yankees and Red Sox begin the series on Tuesday, with all three games taking place in the Bronx. If New York moves on, Judge should be available for the ALDS.

Fernando Mendoza finally joins Kirk Cousins in unique routine after a win

Kirk Cousins has apparently infected Fernando Mendoza with a case of postgame calories.

In a photo shared on X by Mick Akers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, a smiling Cousins is seen on the same table at In-N-Out by Las Vegas Raiders teammates running back Dylan Laube, offensive lineman Caleb Rodgers and backup quarterback Mendoza. You can check out the photo here.

Cousins appears to have developed a love for In-N-Out burgers, especially after Raiders victories. The fast-food burger chain has become a go-to place for a postgame meal for the veteran signal-caller, and Mendoza and other Raiders players appear to be joining the ritual.

The photo was taken following Las Vegas’ 35-27 win over the New Orleans Saints last Sunday at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, La. It was the third consecutive win for the Raiders to start the 2026 season — and the Kirk Cousins era in Sin City. 

Against the Saints, Cousins had a performance worthy of a big caloric payoff, passing for 248 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions on 22/33 completions. He got a big hand from tight end Brock Bowers, who made his season debut and immediately led Las Vegas with 116 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 receptions and 13 targets.

Mendoza, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, has yet to make his regular-season debut, but he’ll eventually get his chance to run the offense on the field. 

Coming up next for the Raiders is a battle against fellow undefeated team and AFC West rivals Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.

Damian Lillard had a telling remark on the Blazers potentially leaving Portland

Damian Lillard doesn’t want to see the day when the Trail Blazers are no longer in Portland. 

While there is no imminent possibility of a Trail Blazers relocation, the NBA franchise and the City of Portland have yet to see eye to eye on where the funding should come from for the renovation of the Moda Center in Portland, Ore.

According to Jason Quick of The Athletic, the Blazers and the City of Portland must agree by December to receive $365 million in state bonds. Otherwise, the Trail Blazers’ chances of staying in Portland would get blurrier.

Lillard can’t seem to grasp the idea of the Blazers being in a different location.

“As much as I’m a Trail Blazer, I’m a Portland person. … I just don’t see that happening, the veteran point guard said during Monday’s Media Day.

“And hopefully that’s what it ends up being. I just don’t see a world where the Trail Blazers aren’t in Portland. I just don’t.”

There is still time to work on an agreement between the key parties that will ensure the Blazers will be in Portland for many more years to come. For now, hearing someone like Lillard voice his support for keeping the Blazers in Portland is comforting, at least, for the fans of the team.

The Blazers will open their 2026-27 NBA campaign on Oct. 21 against the Phoenix Suns at Moda Center.

Fans were weirded out by Caleb Williams’ appearance in the locker room after Bears-Eagles game

Caleb Williams marches to the beat of his own drum, and he showed that again following the Chicago Bears’ stunning 27-7 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill.

As Monday Night Football hero Case Keenum was receiving the game ball in the locker room, Williams was spotted in the background grinning while wearing a robe.

Williams didn’t see action against the Eagles, as he was held out by a hamstring injury he suffered in the Bears’ Week 2 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. But he was showing full support for Case Keenum and the rest of the team throughout the contest. 

Williams was also probably the happiest of them all with Keenum’s performance, with the 38-year-old vet outplaying Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts and even making history in leading Chicago to the victory.

Meanwhile, fans just couldn’t help but notice Williams’ appearance in the locker room.

Robes aren’t exactly uncommon in the locker room, though some may just feel a little weird seeing someone who didn’t even play slip into one right after the game.

Williams likely wouldn’t mind getting trolled by fans so long as the Bears are winning, with or without him on the field. Keenum was masterful in his start opposite the Eagles, as he went 24/34 for 247 passing yards and three touchdowns without an interception, while rushing for another score.

The Bears improved to 2-1 and will be facing the New York Jets at home in Week 4.

Fans ripped David Stearns over his statement on Pete Alonso

It doesn’t take much for New York Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns to get fans riled up.

He almost effortlessly did so again on Monday, when he answered a retrospective question about whether he’d approached Pete Alonso differently during the previous free agency.

“I think that’s a very fair question. The truth is in this job, I don’t get mulligans,” Stearns said, via SNY Mets. 

“I also recognize Pete had a tremendous year. And the totality of our production at first base wasn’t good enough.”

Unsurprisingly, fans didn’t like what Stearns said.

Alonso spent his first seven seasons in the big leagues with the Mets and immediately blossomed into a star, leading the majors in home runs in his rookie season in 2019 with 53. 

Years later, he took his talents to the American League via free agency, signing a 5-year, $155 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles, a move that alienated a lot of Mets fans, especially since New York reportedly did not make an offer to the slugger.

In his first season with the Orioles, Alonso led the AL with 43 homers while slashing .267/.363/.522 and posting a 149 OPS+. 

Meanwhile, the Mets struggled to find solid production at first base and finished last in the NL East with a 74-88 record. Their first basemen finished the 2026 regular season 26th in the big leagues with just a .302 wOBA and an underwhelming 91 wRC+.

Buccaneers hit with a multi-week injury to wide receiver

There seems to be no end in sight for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ malaise. Still winless after three weeks of football and facing a lengthy absence from starting quarterback Baker Mayfield, the Bucs are also reportedly going to lose wide receiver Jalen McMillan to injury as well for multiple weeks.

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, McMillan “re-injured the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee” during the Buccaneers’ 23-16 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

The 24-year-old McMillan is expected to be put on the injured reserve and miss 6-8 weeks, as he now navigates yet another road to recovery from a different injury.

Last season, McMillan saw action in only four games after suffering a back injury in the preseason. He missed Week 1 of the 2026 campaign with a knee injury and made his debut in Week 2 versus the Cleveland Browns, but recorded zero catches. Against the Vikings, he failed to catch the only target he saw before leaving the game in the first quarter with a knee injury.

Mayfield dislocated his thumb in the same Vikings game, and he’ll be out for weeks. 

McMillan isn’t a major contributor to Tampa Bay’s offense, but his absence still impacts the Buccaneers offense’s depth.

A third-round pick by Tampa Bay in 2024, McMillan has appeared in 19 games and collected 639 receiving yards with eight touchdowns (all TDs were scored in his rookie season), so far in his NFL career.

Case Keenum had an unexpected historic feat against the Eagles

Case Keenum had a night to remember on Monday, complete with a new franchise record for the Chicago Bears.

With Caleb Williams sidelined by a hamstring injury and No. 2 quarterback Tyson Bagent fresh off a stint from the concussion protocol, the Bears went with veteran QB Keenum to handle the starting gig under center on Monday against the Philadelphia Eagles at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill.

Keenum answered the call and reciprocated the Bears’ trust in him by putting together a memorable performance in leading Chicago to a 27-7 victory.

That performance included something perhaps not even Keenum saw coming, as he ended a seven-year personal drought for his first rushing touchdown of the decade. 

His score with over seven minutes left in the fourth quarter made him the oldest player (38 years and 223 days) in Bears franchise history to score a rushing touchdown, according to Courtney Cronin of ESPN. 

Here is a look at that 3rd-and-goal score by Keenum to dig the Eagles a deeper hole.

Keenum has never been known for his wheels or ability to find the end zone with his legs, but he did so on that occasion, albeit for just a yard. Before that, the last time he scored a rushing touchdown was in 2019, when he was still with the then-Washington Redskins.

All told, Keenum had 247 passing yards and two touchdowns without a turnover on 24/34 completions versus the Eagles.

Drew Allar had an honest opinion of James Franklin amid Virginia Tech’s hot start

Drew Allar is still learning his way in the NFL, but that’s not stopping the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback from keeping tabs on his former college head coach, James Franklin.

Allar played all four years of college under Franklin with the Penn State Nittany Lions, so they know each other well. 

And like Allar, Franklin has moved on from Penn State, as he is now in his first season coaching the Virginia Tech Hokies after being fired by the Big Ten school in the middle of the 2025 campaign, which was also Allar’s final year with the program.

Under Franklin, the Hokies have gone 4-0 to start the season, and that has certainly made an impression on Allar.

“I’m not really surprised at all,” Allar said about the Hokies’ early success with Franklin at the helm, via Ashley Wenskoski of Pittsburgh Sports Tonight.

“I think he has a good track record of turning programs around from his days at Vanderbilt and then when he first got to Penn State and now obviously at a great school like Virginia Tech. I’m not really surprised at all.”

Franklin coached Penn State from 2014 to 2025, but his main focus now is on Virginia Tech, which has already surpassed their total of three wins in 2025.

Franklin and the Hokies will go for a 5-0 record on Friday against the Pittsburgh Panthers at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Va. A day before that, Allar and the Steelers will see the Cleveland Browns in a Thursday Night Football matchup at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, Ohio.

Bears LB makes admission about his viral moment before intercepting Jalen Hurts

Chicago Bears linebacker TJ Edwards spoiled some of the fun from Monday night’s win against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Edwards picked off Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts late in the third quarter at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill. The highlight play drew even more attention because Edwards was seen listening in on the Eagles’ huddle moments before the snap.

Many fans suspected Edwards may have picked something up from his sneaky move. But he told The Athletic’s Kevin Fishbain otherwise after the game.

“No,” Edwards said when asked whether he had understood anything from the Eagles’ huddle.

“I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll hear some familiar stuff,’ and like they must have changed language up because I had no idea what they were talking about.”

Edwards played for the Eagles from 2019 to 2022. Philadelphia using the same language since then would probably have been even more surprising. It’s also possible Edwards was feigning ignorance for the sake of maintaining a competitive advantage over his former team.

Whatever the case, Edwards still picked Hurts off all the same in what was a critical moment to seal a 27-7 win for the Bears.

Jason Benetti had incredible message after calling Justin Verlander’s final game

Jason Benetti put Justin Verlander’s retirement in perspective on Monday after being on the call for his final MLB outing.

The veteran broadcaster was on the mic as Verlander’s family surprised him after his last-ever start Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Comerica Park in Detroit, Mich. Justin’s wife, Kate Upton, embraced him along with their two young children following his 5.1 innings of work (video here).

Benetti was asked about the moment during his press conference ahead of his assignments for the MLB postseason.

“There are Tigers fans in the stands who, when they first saw Justin Verlander pitch, they were new parents and now their kids are 20 or 21. Or you stop and you think, well, I saw that first start with my dad on the couch and now he’s gone. Right?” Benetti said, via NBC Sports.

“A lot changes in 20 years in all of our lives. I think for anybody watching that, there was this moment of sort of contention with mortality almost that life flows and continues and never stops. But to see Justin Verlander’s evolution from a pretty irascible pitcher, from everything I’ve heard, to dad of the year in Major League Baseball and how much he cares for his kids and his wife and his family, I just think it was ultimately extraordinarily touching. But I think it hits something in everybody generationally.”

Benetti called the touching family scene one of the most emotional sporting moments in recent memory. He said the day was so emotionally charged that he fell asleep after heading home, then woke up and ruminated on the moment “for hours.”

Verlander made his MLB debut in 2005 and became one of the greatest pitchers of his generation. He won three Cy Young Awards, an AL MVP trophy, and two World Series rings across 21 seasons. But those awards hardly paint the full picture of what Verlander meant to MLB and its fans throughout his two decades of dominance.

Ben Johnson takes cheeky shot at Jared Goff after beating Eagles

Ben Johnson is no stranger to coaching a quarterback without much mobility.

The Chicago Bears head coach led his team to a Week 3 win over the Philadelphia Eagles despite not having Caleb Williams available for the contest. Instead, 38-year-old Case Keenum led the way for the Bears in a 27-7 win to improve the Bears’ record to 2-1.

Keenum sliced up the Eagles defense for 247 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns on a 24/32 clip. He outplayed his Philly counterpart, Jalen Hurts, who went 16/25 for 153 yards. Keenum made for his lack of agility with a lightning-quick trigger on his passes.

After the game, Johnson was asked about scheming for Keenum with Williams sidelined with injury.

Reporter: “How do you go into preparation when you deal with a quarterback who maybe stays in the pocket more buy gets the ball out quick, as opposed to Caleb [Williams] who may be a bit more mobile.”

Johnson: “Well, I’ve got a little history with calling plays with someone not so mobile. … Case came through. He played lights-out.”

Johnson was clearly talking about slow-footed Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff. The two enjoyed great success together when Johnson was the Lions’ offensive coordinator from 2022 to 2024.

Keenum may not have Williams’ ability to keep plays alive, but Johnson found a way to use him effectively enough to beat the Eagles. The Bears also got some help from TJ Edwards and his sleuthing, which led to a game-changing pick on Hurts in the second half.

Bears LB pulled sneaky move to pick off Jalen Hurts

Chicago Bears linebacker TJ Edwards showed off his sleuthing abilities on Monday night, much to the dismay of Jalen Hurts.

The Eagles were going for it on 4th-and-5 near midfield late in the third quarter at Soldier Field in Chicago, Ill. The players did not seem to notice Edwards listening in as Hurts commandeered a huddle with his teammates for the critical play.

Edwards put what he had learned to good use. The veteran defender jumped the route and intercepted a ball intended for DeVonta Smith.

Edwards and Hurts were teammates in Philly during the QB’s first three seasons. Perhaps Jalen subconsciously thought of TJ as a friendly face and ignored him as a potential threat during the huddle.
