Deck of Miami sports bar Shuckers collapses into water during NBA Finals

Imagine being on the patio at a sports bar watching an NBA Finals game and having the deck collapse sending you and many others into the water below. That actually happened on Thursday night at Shuckers Waterfront Grill in the Miami area.

Minutes before halftime of Game 4 between the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs, the deck at Shuckers collapsed, sending around two dozen customers into the water. Around 15 people were transported to the hospital, and the Miami Herald says two were in serious condition.

About 100 people were on the patio when the deck collapsed, per the Herald. A hostess at the bar says fans got up to cheer a Heat basket when the deck collapsed.

The deck is about five above the Biscayne Bay water, and it was shallow enough for those who fell in to stand up. However, the people had difficulty getting out of the water because of everything that fell in, such as umbrellas and chairs. The power went out when the deck collapsed, making it even more difficult to pull people out of the water.

Luckily rescue crews arrived to help in the situation. Below are several photos of the deck before and after the collapse.
