Colts cheerleader agrees to shave head if $10,000 raised for leukemia research

The Indianapolis Colts organization has done a tremendous job of showing support for head coach Chuck Pagano since he was diagnosed with leukemia, and that continued over the weekend when a member of the cheerleading squad agreed to join the movement.

On Sunday, the Colts’ mascot, Blue, sent a tweet asking if a member of the team’s cheer squad would let him shave her head if he could raise $10,000 for leukemia research. A Colts cheerleader named Megan M. agreed.

@bluecoltsmascot count me in! I’ll do it I’m #ColtStrong

A day later, a light-hearted video entitled “Operation Shave Megan’s Head” was posted to the Colts’ website, and it shows Megan signing an agreement to shave her head.

“Everybody knows someone who’s been affected by cancer,” Megan said. “Knowing that I can maybe be strength or inspiration for someone going through this … I want to be strength for them. That’s really what it’s all about — showing that we’re Chuckstrong.”

Blue is now asking fans to visit www.colts.com/chuckstrong to make a donation to the CHUCKSTRONG fund. The mascot has until Sunday, November 25 to raise the money. If he reaches his goal, Megan will shave her head at the Colts vs. Bills game.

As we showed you last week, more than two dozen Colts players have shaved their heads to show their support for Pagano. Guys can pull off the shaved head look and most of them had short hair to begin with, so it won’t take the players nearly as long to look like their old selves as it would for Megan. Her offer is just another example of how selfless the entire organization has been in showing their support for their head coach and cancer research.
