For sports fans, the passing of rock and roll legend Prince on Thursday brought back memories of what many consider to be the greatest Super Bowl halftime performance ever.
In 2007, Prince performed at Sun Life Stadium in Miami during the Indianapolis Colts’ win over the Chicago Bears. He played his hit song “Purple Rain” and — wouldn’t you know it — it was pouring rain at the time. Here’s a video:
Sports Illustrated voted that performance the best Super Bowl halftime show of all time in a list it compiled back in December.
Prince will be missed.
