Brook Lopez dunked on twin brother Robin Lopez (Video)

Brook-Lopez-dunk-on-Robin-LopezNo two players in the NBA are more familiar with each other’s game than Brook Lopez and Robin Lopez. Brothers who grow up together typically play sports against one another, but brothers who are the exact same age and grow up to be 7-feet tall probably take that to another level.

With that in mind, it’s safe to assume the Lopez brothers are accustomed to dunking on one another. On Tuesday night, it was Brook who stole the spotlight by throwing down on Robin during the Brooklyn Nets’ win over the New Orleans Hornets. As you can see, Brook found it pretty funny after the fact while he was sitting on the bench. Considering Robin is the twin who was terrified on Splash Mountain (photo evidence here), we’re not really surprised.

However, let us not lose sight of the fact that Brook was simply returning the favor. Three years ago when he was still with the Phoenix Suns, Robin cut through the lane and dunked on Brook. The brother who is clearly more talented and had the better career at Stanford (Brook) wanted no part of it.

Brook Lopez said ‘you know’ 14 times in a three-question interview (Video)

Brook-Lopez-you-knowMost professional athletes have a hard time doubling as public speakers, but it is a part of their job description. The most overused phrase or filler among athletes who are being interviewed is “you know.” For whatever reason, this is the comfort zone for many people in pro sports when they’re standing in front of a microphone.

Brook Lopez took that to a different level a few weeks ago. At the beginning of the month, the Brooklyn Nets center conducted a quick interview with the YES Network a few hours after he was informed that he had been named to the Eastern Conference All-Star team. He was asked only three questions, but that gave him enough time to sneak the phrase “you know” into his answers on 14 separate occasions.

Someone had to have dared him to say “you know” as many times as he possibly could, right? We saw this NFL safety play the “meow” game on “SportsCenter” a few months ago, so you can’t say it hasn’t been done before. I hope that’s what happened here.

Shaq believes Brook Lopez is a better center than Dwight Howard

Anyone who follows basketball can tell you that Shaquille O’Neal is not a member of the Dwight Howard fan club. In fact, Shaq pretty much hates Dwight. Perhaps he is threatened by Howard’s talent and the fact that he is following directly in his footsteps by starting with the Magic and going to the Lakers. Whatever the case, O’Neal recently criticized Howard’s game once again and said he would take Brook Lopez over him as a center.

“We as players, we always watch people before us,” Shaq said during an NBA.com roundtable discussion last week, according to ESPN.com. “When I came in it was Patrick Ewing and Hakeem Olajuwon, guys who played like true centers who played inside. What we have now are centers that are going to the European style, which is a lot of pick-and-roll. Dwight Howard, who’s a pick-and-roll player, some people say he’s the best center in the league, but me being an old-school center, I’m going to go with Robin Lopez and Andrew Bynum because they play with their back to the basket.”

Of course, Shaq was referring to Nets center Brook Lopez but said “same thing” when corrected.

“Like if you want to go to go to flash and dunking and the pick and roll, you gotta go with Dwight Howard,” he continued. “But me, the last true original dundaughta (slang for big timer), I’m going with Andrew Bynum and which Lopez? Brook. Brook Lopez.”

Yawn. I’m not a Howard fan by any means, but listening to Shaq toot his own horn while downplaying Dwight’s ability is exhausting. Whether it’s the fact that Howard has had to face less double teams or that the competition around the league isn’t as steep, Shaq can’t seem to stop patting himself on the back. And now he’s the original “dundaughta?” Give me a break.

Kevin Love takes picture in front of cavemen, calls them Brook and Robin Lopez

It appears Kevin Love recently visited a museum of some sort, and since he loves messing with people on Twitter he saw it as an opportunity to rip on Brook and Robin Lopez. Love tweeted the photo you see above on Wednesday with the following message:

“Just chillin’ with Brook and Robin Lopez.”

As he showed us with the picture he tweeted of Team USA sleeping on their plane to the London Olympics, Kevin is always searching for his next victim to humiliate via social media. Sorry Lopez twins, it was just your time.
