Mikhail Youzhny writes sorry in French Open clay during poor performance
Mikhail Youzhny was so embarrassed with his poor start against David Ferrer at the French Open on Saturday that he apologized to the fans by writing sorry in the clay court.
“There was a lot of people. That’s why I write ‘sorry’ — because I can’t show them a nice game,” he explained after his 6-0, 6-2, 6-2 third-round loss. “The way we played in the beginning, it was not really interesting for people.”
Youzhny got bageled in the first set and lost the first eight games, which led to his apology. He had such a bad day we’ll give him a break for spelling sorry “SORRi.”
The good news is he’s at least channeling his frustration in much safer ways finally.
