The Kansas City Royals and Baltimore Orioles are set to begin the American League Championship Series on Friday in Baltimore. Prior to first pitch of game 1, a minor issue needed to be addressed in Kansas City.
On Wednesday, a resident of Baltimore Avenue sent a tweet to Mayor Sly James requesting the name of the street be changed before the start of the ALCS.
@MayorSlyJames I live on Baltimore Ave in KCMO. How can we change the street name by Friday? #Royals #BlueOctober

Seems like a reasonable request. It’s been a long time since the Royals have last made an appearance in the postseason and with the team so close to the World Series, it’s all aboard the Royals train. Gotta get that Baltimore name outta here!
Mayor James responded, acknowledging a change was possible.
@ShannonOleen I'll see what we can do.

A possibility turned into reality, temporarily. The city council voted on Thursday for an honorary name change from Baltimore Avenue to Royals Avenue. Of course the vote was unanimous.

Sometimes all you have to do is ask.
