Dodgers exec Andrew Friedman says he suffered World Series celebration injury
Among the many injuries that the Los Angeles Dodgers overcame this season to win the World Series was one to [checks notes] their president of baseball operations.
During one of his regular appearances on AM 570 in Los Angeles this week, Dodgers president Andrew Friedman revealed that he suffered an injury during the World Series against the New York Yankees. Friedman said that he hyperextended his knee while celebrating Freddie Freeman’s walkoff grand slam in Game 1.
It is tough to blame Friedman for getting exuberant there. Freeman’s grand slam with the Dodgers trailing in the bottom of the tenth inning was one of the greatest postseason moments in recent MLB history. The Dodgers were down to their last out at the time too, so the Freeman salami saved them from losing homefield advantage and set the stage for them to win the World Series in just five games.
The good news for Friedman is that, as a front office figure, he does not need to worry about being physically ready in time for spring training. More good news too — Friedman is still relatively young at 47 years old. Plus, at least he did not get his celebration injury caught on video like this athlete did earlier this month.
