Dustin Pedroia has funny response to Manny Machado question
Dustin Pedroia did his part to avoid rehashing the issues between the Boston Red Sox and Manny Machado.
Machado and the Red Sox have a history going back to the shortstop’s time with the Baltimore Orioles. In 2017, Machado caught Pedroia with a high-spikes slide and then got plunked two days later.
Leading up to Game 1 of the World Series, Red Sox players have been asked to comment on their feelings about Machado, who is now with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Pedroia avoided the subject and provided a humorous answer.
I asked Dustin Pedroia, whose knee was wrenched by a Machado slide, whether he would consider investing $300+ million into signing Machado if he were running a team.
āIām not running a team. If I was running a team, our scouting department would be scouting 5-foot-6 guys.ā https://t.co/vzWPCfLZn4

While with Baltimore, Machado did not make many friends around the Boston area. He was booed at Fenway Park for an incredibly slow home run trot. Machado also unleashed a profanity-laced rant after being brushed back by Chris Sale.
Red Sox players will likely bite their tongues this week when Machado’s name is brought up. The same will probably not be the case when Machado is announced at Fenway.
